Welcome to Eastside Veterinary Clinic, your local veterinarian in Providence, RI.

We’re proud to provide a wide variety of veterinary medical services for dogs, cats, and small mammals in Providence, RI & surrounding areas!

Opened in 2000, Eastside Veterinary Clinic is a full-service Veterinary facility, caring for the Greater Providence, Rhode Island area’s animals. We are staffed with four highly experienced Veterinarians and many compassionate, skilled Veterinary Technicians. In addition to providing services to the public, we partner with local shelters to promote adoption and affordable spay/neuter programs. We are able to provide both routine and specialty services. Meet Our Team

Dr. Peter Cournoyer
Medical Director

Education: Boston College, Tufts University
33 years in practice

Dr. Cournoyer graduated from  Boston College in 1984 and Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1989. He opened this practice in 2000 and especially enjoys primary care and surgery. He is married with three children and enjoys the family pets; two dogs and four chickens.

Dr. Jessica Glatzer-Murphy
Veterinarian

Originally from Brooklyn, NY, Dr. Murphy received an undergraduate degree in environmental studies from the University of Vermont, and a Master’s degree in environmental science from the University of California, Santa Barbara.  She then worked for several years in non-profit animal and environmental protection organizations before deciding that veterinary medicine was her true calling.  Dr. Murphy obtained her DVM from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2007, and has worked as a general practitioner in Rhode Island since then.

Professionally, Dr. Murphy enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, with a special interest in preventative care, internal medicine, and pain management.

When not working, she loves spending time with her family and friends, traveling, exercising, and enjoying the great restaurants in Providence.  She currently lives in Providence with her husband, her 2 children, Lucas and Julia, her rescue Shih-Tzu mix, Teddy, and her two cats George and Louie.

Dr. Jessica Girard
Veterinarian

Dr. Jessica Girard graduated from the University of Wisconsin Veterinary School in 2012 and completed a rotating veterinary internship at Carolina Veterinary Specialists in Greensboro, North Carolina in 2013. She has since practiced veterinary medicine in North Carolina and Virginia. Dr. Girard enjoys urgent care aspects of veterinary medicine, dentistry and wellness care. She is also certified in veterinary acupuncture in dogs and cats, and has found this practice to be a great way to connect with pets and owners.

Dr. Girard recently moved to Rhode Island with her husband and daughter and is looking forward to never moving again. She is enjoying learning about all things Rhode Island like coffee milk, amazing beaches, and great people. Dr. Girard looks forward to enthusiastically greeting your pets and you!

Kim
Practice Manager

Kim, who was born and raised in Providence, graduated from New England Tech with a degree in Veterinary Technology in 2013. She has been in the field since 2012 and has worked at Eastside Veterinary Clinic for several years. Professionally, she enjoys all aspects of client education, surgical procedures and leading a successful team and hospital. While she loves all animals, she has a soft spot for small fluffy dogs. She enjoys spending time with her husband and their three pets at home; a shih tzu named Fumble, a cat named Bella and another three-legged cat named Friar. Her hobbies include cooking, going to football and basketball games and spending time with family.

Sydney
Lead Technician

Sydney is our lead technician. She has been in the veterinary field since 2017 and has been with Eastside since 2021. She has two cats Begonia and Petunia. She is a plant enthusiast and has many hobbies including snowboarding, golfing, hiking, kayaking, and painting. In her down time, she enjoys spending time with friends, family and her cats.

Christine
Receptionist

Christine is a veterinary receptionist with five years’ experience in the animal health care field. A passionate animal lover and proud pet parent to her dog, Schmitty, and her cat, Winnifred. Christine’s hobbies include spending time with her husband, traveling, hiking, fishing, and cuddling with her pets.

Jaycie
Veterinary Technician

Jaycie has been in the veterinary field since 2015 and has been both a receptionist and a technician. Her favorite aspects of the field are educating clients on how to give their fur babies the best quality of life and making her patients feel comfortable during exams and treatments. Jaycie has several fur children of her own, a rescue Shepherd mix named Cara, two cats named Henry and Pandora, a lionhead bunny named Arlo and a gecko named Mango. When she’s not at work, Jaycie enjoys spending her time in nature, cooking and eating delicious food, and spending time with her two human children Camden and Rosalie.

Nicole
Veterinary Technician

Nicole originally worked for Eastside Vet Clinic from 2008-2018. She then worked for Animal Control before returning to Eastside Vet in 2024. Nicole graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 2010, majoring in Pre-Veterinary Animal Science. She enjoys assisting with surgical procedures and preventative medicine. When not at work she loves to cook, enjoys the outdoors, and leads an active lifestyle with her husband and two step-children.  She currently has one dog, a pit/hound mix named Annie.

Teyahna
Veterinary Technician

Teyahna has been in the veterinary field since 2020. Her favorite thing about the veterinary field is making sure all of her patients feel comfortable, especially the nervous ones! Teyahna is also a fur mom of 10 including her 3 dogs pictured which are Lola ( chihuahua), Luna ( Pitbull), and Maeby (mixed breed). On her free time she enjoys hiking as well as swimming with her dogs. Teyahna is currently a student at Penn Foster and is working towards getting a degree in Veterinary Technology.
